Kazakhstan and BIE discussed EXPO 2017 preparations

On February 19 in Paris, Rapil Zhoshybayev, Commissioner for the EXPO-2017 Internationalized Specialized Exhibition, Executive Secretary of Kazakhstan MFA, and Talgat Yermegiyayev, Chairman of “Astana EXPO-2017” National Company, met with Vicente Gonzalez Loscertales, Secretary General of the Bureau International des Expositions (BIE).


Nurlan Danenov, Kazakhstan’s Ambassador to France, took part in the consultations on the EXPO-2017 preparations in Astana.

Rapil Zhoshybayev stated that Astana’s successful bid has became an initial stage of implementation of President Nazarbayev’s initiative presented at EXPO-2008 in Zaragoza, Spain. He also reconfirmed that the Commission will ensure the implementation of EXPO-2017 at the highest level.

On his turn, Talgat Yermegiyayev expressed his hope that, in the light of topicality of the “Future Energy” theme, all the BIE member-states will b eable to participate in the 2017 event. He mentioned that all advices and recommendations of the BIE are highly valuable for Astana.

Vicente Loscertales said that it has been the largest success of an applicant in 20 years of his career at the BIE. He particularly mentioned the exemplary campaign of Kazakhstan. Discussing his visit to Kazakhstan this January Vicente Loscertales emphasized importance of the support that the President, the Government and the people of Kazakhstan render to EXPO.
