Visa Information

VISA-FREE REGIME 

For citizens of the United Kingdom, United States of America, Germany, France, Italy, Malaysia, Netherlands, United Arab Emirates, Switzerland, Spain, Belgium, Hungary, Monaco, Singapore, Australia, Norway, Sweden, Finland and Japan entering and leaving Kazakhstan without visas in the period from 16 July 2015 to 31 December 2017.

In accordance with the Governmental Regulation №483 from June 26, 2015 to the amendments and additions to the Decree of the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated January 21, 2012 №148 citizens of the United Kingdom, United States of America, Germany, France, Italy, Malaysia, Netherlands, United Arab Emirates, Switzerland, Spain, Belgium, Hungary, Monaco, Singapore, Australia, Norway, Sweden, Finland and Japan are exempt from visa requirements for visits up to fifteen calendar days from the moment of crossing the state border between July 16, 2015 to December 31, 2017.

Registration of citizens of these countries is carried out by the Border Service of the National Security Committee through affixing date stamp in the "registration" migration card.

Should the citizens of these countries want to remain on the territory of Kazakhstan for more than fifteen calendar days due to the business requirements of the negotiations or contracting the potential partner, they must submit an application for "business" visa to the migration police which, in the manner prescribed by law, will issue a "business" visa for a period of up to thirty calendar days with simultaneous extension of alien registration.

Visitors’ change of temporary residence is processed within five calendar days by the internal affairs administration. When you change a temporary residence in the Republic of Kazakhstan, the host entity or individual must notify in writing the bodies of internal affairs within three days.

If during their stay on the territory of Kazakhstan a citizen of the above countries wishes to implement joint investment project, then his business partner will need to submit the draft business plan to the Committee on Investments of the Ministry of Industry and New Technologies of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Should the Committee on Investments confirm the status of the investor, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan will issue in accordance with legislation single-entry visa with the category of "investor" for up to ninety days and, if necessary, multiple-entry visa for up to three years.

Visitors to the Republic of Kazakhstan with "Investor" visas or confirming the status of "investor" from the competent authority (for countries with visa-free stay) are exempt from passports registration.

During their stay in the territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan citizens of these countries may not engage in missionary work, as well as other paid activities in accordance with the laws of the country.

VISAS OF THE REPUBLIC OF KAZAKHSTAN

To enter Kazakhstan, foreign nationals and individuals without nationality will need a visa unless exempt under international treaty.

The Kazakh visa must be pasted into a passport or other identity document recognized in Kazakhstan and must be valid for travelling. The visa shall give the right to enter and stay in Kazakhstan and exit from it or transit across Kazakhstan.

Depending on the purpose of stay, foreign nationals can get a visa of one of the following types:

Diplomatic visa (A1-A3) - granted to holders of diplomatic passports, holders of international institutions’ passports or national passports, if they are staff members of international institutions (this visa also covers members of their families and members of the families of diplomats working for foreign diplomatic missions and consulates in Kazakhstan, government officials, parliament members, noted public and political figures, honorary consuls and members of their families).
Official visa (B1-B3) - granted to holders of official passports, holders of national foreign passports working for foreign diplomatic missions and other offices and international institutions (not diplomatic ones), as well as foreign nationals visiting on business or public trips by invitation from diplomatic missions and international institutions accredited in Kazakhstan.
Investor visa (C1-C2) - granted to investors (namely chief executive officers and top managers or representatives of big foreign firms and companies) involved in investing into the economy of Kazakhstan, as well as to members of their families.
Business visa (D1-D8) - granted to foreign nationals visiting and staying in Kazakhstan on business (business trip, participation in business negotiations, symposiums, conferences, bids, contract negotiations, participation in expos and fairs, trade deals on international traffic, consulting and auditing services).
Missionary visa (E1-E3) – granted to foreign national visiting Kazakhstan for religious activity or missionary activity, as well as to members of their families.
Tourist visa (F1) - granted to foreigners visiting Kazakhstan as tourists.
Private visa (G1-G4) - granted to foreigners, travelling to and staying in Kazakhstan on private trips; for medical treatment, medical examination, advice etc.; to adopt children - citizens of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
Transit visa (H1) - granted to foreigners with no right to visa-free transit to cross Kazakhstan.
Permanent Resident visa (J1-J3) - granted to foreigners travelling to Kazakhstan for permanent residency.
Family reunion visa (K1-K3) - granted to foreigners travelling to Kazakhstan with a purpose of family reunion.
Education visa (L1-L2) - granted to foreigners travelling and staying in Kazakhstan for studies, study tours, educational practice, internships etc.
Work visa (M1-M5) - granted to foreigners travelling to Kazakhstan for work, as well as their family members.
Humanitarian visa (N1-N2) - granted to foreigners travelling to Kazakhstan to provide free education, health services and social assistance; to provide charity, humanitarian donations and grants.
Exit visa (P1-P8) - issued to foreigners, who lost their travel documents in Kazakhstan; whose period of stay was shorten; dismissed from the penitentiary; who submitted documents, confirming force majeure circumstances, delay or cancel of the flight, train or other vehicle, preventing exit from Kazakhstan until the expiry date of visa or permitted visa-free stay.

VISA ISSUING

To secure visas, foreign nationals must contact the Kazakh diplomatic mission/consulate in the country of residence and submit:

- Valid passport or travel document that is recognized by the Kazakhstan Government and with a validity not earlier than 3 months upon expiry of the requested visa and having at least 2 blank pages for a visa;
- Copy of the data page of a passport and page with valid Thai visa / immigration stamp;
- Visa application form completely filled out and signed (download here);
- One color photo 3.5 х 4.5 cm on the white background;
- Proof of consular fee paid (bank details are below);
- Ticket to/from Kazakhstan (air, rail);
- Hotel booking in Kazakhstan;
- Valid visa to the third country, i.e. country of main destination (for transit visa only);
- Copy of work permit (for work visa only);
- Copy of letter of invitation (LOI) - indicating the visa support number issued by the Department of Consular Service of the Kazakhstan MFA;
or
- Written application indicating the purpose and dates of planned trip, contact in Kazakhstan, places to be visited - instead of LOI (only for nationals of states referred to in the List below to secure single Diplomatic, Official, Business, Private visa or double Tourist, Transit visa);
or
- Original private letter of invitation written by Kazakh interior authorities (for private visa only);
or
- Applications for Kazakh nationals’ family members - husband/wife, /children/parents - escorting foreign national (for private visa only).

Applicants are required to apply for a visa in person. Proxy and Postal applications are not accepted.

Consular Section is open for visa applicants on Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 10:00 till 12:00 hrs., except Public Holidays.

Visa processing time is 5 working days.

For all visa categories and types, when applying for a visa, all documents in foreign languages must be translated into Kazakh or English and properly notarized by notary organs or the applicant's diplomatic/ consular mission.

Consular officers reserve the rights to request additional documents as deemed necessary.

VISA FEE

All payments for consular fee should be paid to Bangkok Bank Head Office before submitting documents to the Embassy.

All kinds of diplomatic, service/official and investor visas are free of charge.

Please note that all payments for consular fee are non-refundable and additional 500 THB will be charged by Bangkok Bank as a bank fee.
